Meaning: As usual, what Charlie is saying has at least two levels. The obvious level is his battle with network executives. The "battlefield" is the coming war between Good and Evil, the Apocalypse (Now). Charlie doesn't believe in God, he believes in the Dogstar (Sirius/satan), the "brightest star in the sky", so he says "Dogspeed" instead of "Godspeed". The helicopter sound is another reference to his father's movie "Apocalypse Now", and the coming apocalypse.
